The Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 sets out some legal obligations related to trading in real estate. They apply to all “registrants”. So, unless you happen to be exempt from registration under the Act, then they will apply to you.

The Act contains certain obligations, as do the regulations passed pursuant to the Act. Previously, we reviewed the statutory obligations under the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002, and the obligations imposed upon all registrants under the Code of Ethics.

A pharmacy has reopened just a week after being severely damaged by fire.

The temporary pharmacy building opened outside the Boots store in Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne this morning at 8am.

Around 80 firefighters battled to put out the fire which gutted the Boots store at The Crumbles retail park in Pevensey Bay Road, Eastbourne on Saturday December 11.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service believe arsonists were responsible for the blaze.

Simon South, East Sussex area manager for Boots, said: “It’s really positive news that we have managed to get the pharmacy back in place in a week and patients have not been too badly affected.

Old National Bank’s previously-announced acquisition of Bloomington, Ind.-based Monroe Bank has received federal regulatory approval.

The deal was originally announced in October. On Wednesday, the financial institutions announced that both the Federal Reserve Board and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency have approved the deal.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency approved the merger of Monroe Bank into Old National Bank. The Federal Reserve approved Old National’s holding company, Old National Bancorp, acquisition of Monroe Bank’s holding company, Monroe Bancorp.

The acquisition is expected to be complete on Jan. 1, subject to approval by Monroe Bancorp’s shareholders and the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions.

HENDERSON, Ky. — Your car might not start and the streets might be ice rinks, but here’s one thing you can quit worrying about: We’re not going to have to change our area code to 364.

A few years ago, unused phone numbers were being snapped up so quickly that the Kentucky Public Service Commission set in motion a plan to split western Kentucky into two area codes.

The area that includes Henderson, Madisonville, Hopkinsville and Paducah was initially scheduled to be assigned the new area code 364 in 2008.

Cities such as Owensboro, Bowling Green, Elizabethtown and Glasgow were to keep 270.

But because of declining demand and changes in the process by which new numbers are assigned, implementation of the new area code has been postponed five times. O
