NEW YORK (AP) – The NBA will play a shortened season — if it plays at all — after labor negotiations broke down for the second time in a week.

NBA Commissioner David Stern canceled all November games on Friday, the 120th day of the lockout.

“It’s not practical, possible or prudent to have a full season now,” said Stern, who previously canceled the first two weeks of the season.

Just a day earlier, Stern had said he would consider it a failure if the two sides didn’t reach a deal in the next few days and vowed they would take “one heck of a shot” to get it done.

Owners are insistent on a 50-50 split of revenues, while players last formally proposed they get 52.5 percent, leaving them about $100 million apart annually. Pla

Buying a business requires that you, the buyer, make an informed decision before closing the deal.  Researching about the business starts the moment you are thinking about buying a business.  Start making inquiries from your friends and entrepreneurs in the same industry.  You should read trade and industry publications, and search the Internet.  If you like the preliminary information you heard or read from your initial meeting with the seller, make an offer.  If the seller accepts this, he or she will grant you a period of time, usually a month to several months, to access the companys records and books.  Take this time to know everything about the company you intend to buy. Similarly, talent and genius without the adequate guidance and training are just futile and would lead man nowhere. Bringing home the best techniques for training alongside the confidence of self belief is the Phoenix. Bringing into harmony, the various loose ends of talent and potential is the world of Phoenix Training and Development. Read more…

Luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Rolls Royce are symbols of wealth and success. But new mobile digital technologies could prove to be a double-edged sword for some of the world’s most exclusive labels.

A Queensland University of Technology (QUT) researcher is examining the impact of iPhone applications on the image and identity of luxury brands.

PhD researcher Parisa Mahyari, from QUT’s School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations, will analyse how luxury fashion, automobile and hotel brands use mobile phones to take advantage of the growing digital market.

One of the key criticisms lobbed in the direction of corporations is that theyre essentially a mechanism for avoiding personal responsibility.

But this property is hardly unique to corporations. And its certainly not always a bad thing.

The notion that corporations shield individuals from responsibility actual has two components: one about moral and legal culpability for wrongdoing, and another about financial responsibility.

On the financial side, the lack of individual responsibility goes by the legal name of limited liability. Limited liability applies most famously to shareholders, who generally cannot lose more than whatever they have invested in corporate shares.
