There is breaking news for entrepreneurs – the U.S. Small Business Administration recently announced a new addition to its west coast operation.
Overseeing the SBA in California, Nevada, Arizona, Hawaii and Guam will be Elizabeth Echols, who was recently named Regional Administrator in Region IX. In making the announcement, SBA Administrator Karen G. Mills spoke of Echols’ impressive record in public service.
“Both the SBA and small businesses of the region will benefit greatly from Elizabeth?s career in public service and commitment to innovation and business development,” said Mills.

The new healthcare bill that was recently signed into law in 2010 by President Obama contains provisions that provide money to small businesses that promote and operate wellness and prevention programs for their employees. About $200 million in grants will be given out over five years, starting in 2011. These grants will be earmarked for small businesses with 100 or fewer employees and will be administered by the US Health and Human Services Department.

The Associated Press reports that the new site will allow visitors to connect with experts in small business and give them the opportunity to ask questions on a variety of topics. The website – MyExpertNet – is a free service developed by the Knowledge Institute, based in Exeter, New Hampshire.
