According to the National Association of Realtors, it is more than US buyers interested in taking advantage of the current buyers market. A recently released report shows that between April 1, 2009 and March 31, 2010 66 billion dollars worth of residential real estate was sold to foreign buyers. This represents seven percent of the residential sales for that period in the United States.
The affordability in American real estate right now is generating a lot of interest with foreign buyers. More than one in four real estate agents surveyed said that they had worked with a foreign buyer during the year and 18% said they had closed at least one sale with a foreign buyer, up six percent from the sales analysis in the prior year.
The value of the dollar is one of the major contributors to the international interest in the United States housing market. The perception of the strength of the American economic recovery has led many foreigners to the conclusion that American housing is more affordable than in their own country. In fact, it is that affordability that is driving American buyers into the housing market here as well.
